Statement issued by MCD on Report by Committee
RE: Complaints received following Barbra Streisand Concert at Castletown House

MCD has today received the Report of the Committee set up to investigate complaints made following the Barbra Streisand concert at Castletown House on Saturday July 14th. The complete report can be viewed on www.castletownconcertreport.com.
The Report makes a number of recommendations regarding compensation which MCD has accepted and will implement immediately contacting complainants directly. This will be complete by 19th October 2007.
These recommendations include;
Complainants ( 200 approx ) who had to stand or choose to stand and did not have seats will be fully refunded.
Complainants ( 561 approx ) who ended up in seats which were not their original seats and were in a price tier below the one they had tickets for will be compensated the price difference, e.g. people with €551.75 seats who ended up in a €270.75 seat will receive a €281 refund and people with €270.75 seats who ended up in a €193.50 seat will receive a €77.25 refund etc.
Complainants ( 383 approx ) who experienced difficulties on site e.g. car parking, disruption, people standing in front of them and similar experiences, and where it is considered that MCD had some responsibility will be compensated in the form of a €100 Voucher.
In total 1,144 complainant letters representing approximately 2,500 people will be compensated.
"Again I would like to apologise to those concert goers whose experience at the Barbra Streisand concert at Castletown House was spoiled and not what they should have expected" said Denis Desmond, Managing Director MCD.
"I would like to sincerely thank the members of the Committee for their work in compiling this Report. Their comments and observations will assist us to ensure that we continue to provide the very best concert experience for our patrons"
"The concert at Castletown House on July 14th took place during a period of unprecedented bad weather and I would like to acknowledge MCD staff, sub-contractors and the statutory authorities including the Garda Siochana and Kildare County Council for their support and hard work in what were very difficult conditions" he added
